No Change YTD in 2022 from Same Period in 2021

In the week ending on August 13, 2022, US domestic raw steel production was 1,742,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 79.0 percent.

World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 158.1 million tonnes (Mt) in June 2022, a 5.9% decrease compared to June 2021.

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of May 2022, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,910,730 net tons.

AISI reported that steel import permit applications for the month of June totaled 2,722,000 net tons (NT)*.

In the week ending on July 16, 2022, domestic raw steel production was 1,738,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 78.9 percent.

In the week ending on July 2, 2022, domestic raw steel production was 1,767,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 80.9 percent.

American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,736,000 net tons (NT) of steel in May 2022.
