In USD million
Vanadium segment revenues advanced by 110.1% to USD 290 million in the first six months of 2010, compared with USD 138 million in the first six months of 2009 reflecting increased sales volumes and prices of vanadium products. Sales volumes of the vanadium segment increased from 7,400 tonnes of pure vanadium in the six months ended June 30th 2009 to 10,900 tonnes of pure vanadium in the six months ended June 30th 2010.
Following the acquisition of Vanady-Tula in November 2009 revenues from sales of vanadium slag account for less than 10% of vanadium segment revenues.
Vanadium segment cost of revenues improved to 69.7% of vanadium segment revenues or USD 202 million in the first six months of 2010 from 115.2% of vanadium segment revenues or USD159 million, in the first six months of 2009. The increase in monetary terms was primarily attributable to higher sales volumes and higher prices of raw materials.
