[Ferro-alloys.com] Russia’s ferrous metals exports rose by 5% on the year to 9.304 million tonnes in January–March, the Federal Customs Service said Thursday.
In monetary terms, exports rose 0.75% to U.S. $4.92 billion in the period. Exports to countries outside the CIS rose 5.4% to 7.99 million tonnes worth $4.16 billion. Ferrous metals imports decreased by 14.8% to 1.085 million tonnes in January–March, and were worth $1.01 billion, a decline of 14.2%.
Steel pipe imports slipped by 29.7% to 167,000 tonnes and were worth $282.3 million, a decrease of 33.6%. Steel pipe imports from the CIS countries dropped 41.2% to 78,700 tonnes and were worth $91.5 million. In 2013, ferrous metals exports fell by 4.4% to 37.311 million tonnes.
