[Ferro-alloys.com]it could be seen that from Jan.2013 to Jul.2014, the Chinese FeCr and South African FeCr in Chinese market continued to declined and another important point was the price gap between the two products gradually decreased. in the first half year of 2013, South African FeCr price was about RMB300-350/mt higher than Chinese FeCr while it then reduced to RMB50/mt in H1 of Jun. and Jul. of 2014. for the import volume of SA FeCr, in the H1 2014, its imports increased by 75.8% and 52.9% than the same period of 2012 and 2013, accouting for 65% of the total volume(1.12million tons).

since H2 of 2013, Chinese government strengthened the environmental protection and energy reduction, which totally improved the producing cost the manufactures. Under this condition, FeCr exporters of South African not only reduced the selling price but enlarged the export volume to China, highly pressured on the Chinese traders and FeCr producers. 

Entering 2014, the FeCr operating rate continued to decline, which reflected the poor condition of the whole industry. Many enterprises in the industry had already been exhausted and it was hard for manufactures to make profit to rely solely on the recovery market recovery. In Q2 and Q3 of 2014, some enterprises had already or planned to convert other products while as many ferroalloys products faced the overcapacity situation, it might not the long-term plan for them to operate. Therefore, improve the production equipment, to accelerate the development of modern logistics, to achieve a breakthrough in terms of financial innovation and promote online trading business will become Long-term survival strategy.
