Manganese ore Brazilian manganese ore exports almost doubled year-on-year inAugust 2014, mainly on increased buying from China and Argentina. Exportstotalled 187,459 tonnes last month, compared with 95,255 tonnes a yearearlier, according to the figures. By contrast, shipments were down 3.8%from July's level of 194,846 tonnes. China, the main destination forBrazilian manganese ore, increased its imports to 110,200 tonnes in August 2014, from 66,000 tonnes a year earlier. Argentina also increased its intake
to 67,047 tonnes last month, from 25,796 tonnes in August 2013. Colombiaimported 10,083 tonnes of the ore from Brazil last month, from no tonnage ayear earlier. Revenues from manganese ore shipments rose 22.2% year-on-yearin August, reaching $18.47 million. Year-to-date, Brazilian manganese oreexports stood at 1.16 million tonnes, up from 1.28 million tonnes in thecorresponding period of 2013.
