Ukraine's Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, the country's biggest ferroalloy producer, increased October output sharply to 66,500 metric tons from 28,000 mt produced in October 2013, UkrFa, an association of Ukrainian ferroalloy producers, said Wednesday.
The company's ferroalloy output in October also rose 25% from 53,200 mt produced in September.
NFP produced 65,200 mt of silicomanganese in October, up from 27,300 mt a year ago and 52,100 mt in September.
Output of ferromanganese increased to 1,300 mt from 700 mt a year ago and 1,100 mt in September.
In the January-October period, NFP produced 518,400 mt of ferroalloy, up 43.7% from 360,800 mt produced in the same period of 2013, according to UkrFa.
The company produced 484,100 mt of silicomanganese in the 10-month period, up from 336,700 mt, and ferromanganese output during the same period rose to 34,300 mt from 24,100 mt in January-October 2013.
NFP, which is located in Dnipropetrovsk region, is one of the biggest producers of ferromanganese and silicomanganese in the world.
It is capable of producing about 1.2 million mt/year of ferroalloy.
In 2013 NFP produced 421,000 mt of ferroalloy, down 36% from 657,800 mt in 2012.
