The price of low-carbon ferro-chrome for the period during January to March in 2015 Japanese stainless steel mills negotiated with overseas ferroalloy producers has been settled at US Cents 207 per lb, which remained unchanged from the period during October to December in 2014.
In the Japanese domestic market, while the demand for special steels is firm, there has been no change in the shortage of supply capacity of the domestic ferroalloy producers, and the imported products dominate the spot market.
Furthermore, the domestic producers seem to have sounded the customers for a price hike, but even if the price goes up, this is anticipated to remain at a slight hike and is not enough to raise the price of imported goods together.
As seen from the above, the price of imported products during January to March was not strong enough as factors for both ups and downs in price, and the price has been settled at the same price since many of customers also preferred maintaining the same price level.
