AK Steel Corporation recently said that the company would invest US$29 million for upgrading of hot-dip galvanizing production line reconstruction at Dearborn, Michigan plant.
The new project will be able to produce advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) and it is expected to be completed in 2016.
After the transformation, the Dearborn plant will be able to produce a new generation of AHSS cold rolled plate products.
AK Steel said the introduction of new technology and product technology enables the company to produce better formability of steel sheets.
The product hardness is between AHSS 500 and 1500MPa which has very good formability and it helps the car lightweight and improved security and so on.
In the meantime, the car manufacturers are also able to meet increasingly stringent fuel-economy targets.
