Oversea related median assessed the spot price of silicomanganese at $760-$770/mt CIF Japan Thursday, down from $795-$810/mt a week earlier, as sellers in India lowered offers.
A Japanese steelmaker bought over 500 mt of silicomanganese for November delivery via tender at less than Yen 100/kg ($840/mt) delivered, equating to $760/mt CIF Japan without local freight, port handling and other administrative charges, according to one tender participant.
A Japanese trader said he received an offer at $760-$770/mt CIF Japan from an Indian producer.
A second Japanese trader pegged the market at $770-$780/mt CIF Japan, lower than last week.
"Now it is below $800/mt -- last week there were offers above that level," he said.
