[Ferro-Alloys.com] Nickel ore price held stable last week. In the domestic market, low-grade nickel ore 0.9-1.1% priced at 140-160yuan/wt; mid-grade nickel ore 1.5% priced at 240-260yuan/wt; high-grade nickel ore 1.8% priced at 400-420yuan/wt. In the international market, low-grade nickel ore 0.9-1.1% priced at $16-18/t; mid-grade nickel ore 1.5% priced at $29-31/t; high-grade nickel ore 1.8% priced at $48-49/t.

Battled by a low nickel price, some nickel mines in Philippine has been shut down recently. As reported, nickel ore exported to China from Philippine accounts for 90 percent of Chinese total import in 2014. Considering the tight supply, Chinese smelting enterprises may have no choice but to shut down. If nickel price in LME continues to stay below 10000 dollars, much more nickel mines will be halted because their operating cost is about 20 dollars per metric tone.
