The crude steel production in the country touched a low of 7.95 million tonnes in June this year as compared to 8.06 million tonnes of June in the previous year, data from the World Steel Association reveals.
According to the data, the steel output dipped by 1.1 per cent.
However the aggregate data of the steel production during the first six month of the current year reveals a positive trend. The production from January to June of 2016 was 46.98 whereas in the same period of the current year, the output stands at 49.482 million tonnes.
The report further revealed that while India registers a negative output for June, India’s closest competitor Iran registered a growth rate of over 5 per cent.
Also China’s steel production hit a new high registering a 5.7 per cent increase last month.
