Ferro-Alloys.com: South Africa Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane opens African Mining Indaba 2018 on Monday 05 February 2018, happening in Cape Town, South Africa.
In the opening of the world’s largest gathering he announced that South Africa has over R220 billion-rand worth of investments in the project pipeline, which includes PGMs, industrial minerals, energy and non-ferrous metals, demonstrating that South Africa remains a critical investment destination.
Further he said, since his arrival in Cape Town a few days ago he have met with some of the global mining firms operating in South Africa, including Rio Tinto – on the company’s plans to expand its operations and extend its life of mine, with a potential investment to the tune of US$450 million. The company has also demonstrated its willingness to align with government policies, by exceeding the targets we have set for empowerment and transformation.
Moreover he confirms that South Africa received an update on the Venetia Underground Project from De Beers, an investment estimated at US$2 billion, which is extending the life of mine to beyond 2040.
