Taiwan will undertake anti-dumping anti-subsidy investigations on certain steel products imported from China, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce.
The anti-subsidy investigation would include cold-roll carbon, hot-rolled stainless steel, galvanised and zinc alloy flat-rolled steel, carbon steel plate and cold-rolled stainless steel, while the anti-dumping investigation covers cold-rolled carbon steel and hot-rolled stainless steel, the statement noted.
The probe will examine imports from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017.
As China’s stainless steel exports to Taiwan accounted for up to 20% of the overall exports in recent years, the investigations are likely to give pressure to China’s nickel prices. We see limited upward room for Chinese domestic nickel price, unlike in the international market.
