[ferro-alloys.com] China’s steelmakers are improving their mix of steelmaking materials to further boost production because of strong demand and high margins, according to Goldman Sachs Group. Average daily output of China's steel hits a record high in June this year, pushing output in the first half year to a record high of 451 million tonnes, more than half of the global output. Goldman sachs estimated, China's steel capacity has shrunk by about 200 million tonnes to about 800 million tonnes, as a result of the shutdown ordered by the state and the prolonged idling of some equipment after the collapse of the global steel market in 2015.
