Print[Ferro-Alloys.com]According to Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association, crude stainless steel production during the first half of 2012 was 7.082 million tons. Due to some changes in categorization criteria, it is not possible to simply compare the figure with past records, but roughly saying, it is up 5.3% from the same half year period of 2011.
Comparison of production by alloy group is as follows, chrome alloyed (400's): up by 8.2% from the year ago half, nickel alloyed (300's): up by 3.1%, manganese alloyed i200's): up by 8.4% YoY. Specific numbers of production of each alloy group are not available.
Data of imports, exports and domestic consumption of stainless steel products, i.e. imports were 387,900 tons, down 15.4% from the year ago half, while exports were 1,006,000 tons (down by 9.2%), and domestic consumption was 5,614,000 tons (up 6.9%).
