[ferro-alloys.com] Ohio-based AK Steel is in the process of repairing one of two blast furnace vessels at its Dearborn Works near Detroit, Michigan, following an issue in late December, a company spokeswoman said Wednesday.
"On December 28 at Dearborn Works we had a breakout at one of our vessels. There were no injuries," the spokeswoman said. "We are repairing the vessel and there is no impact to customers."
The mill's blast furnace has a rated annual capacity of 2.6 million st, according to the Association for Iron and Steel Technology. It produces flat-rolled sheet products including hot-rolled and cold-rolled coil as well as hot-dipped galvanized material.
