[Ferro-Alloys.com] Export prices for Brazilian slab rose for the first time in about a month last week, with buyers starting to place bookings after holding out for a period of time.
The weekly Fastmarkets price assessment for steel slab export, fob main port Brazil was $425-435 per tonne last Friday August 2, up $5 per tonne from $420-430 per tonne a week earlier. Sustained cost pressures diminished the likelihood of prices cuts, while sellers found renewed demand in the North American market with Canadian and Mexican companies seeking more slab.
