The European ferro-silicon market has been steady over the past week amid limited spot activity, with consumers looking toward price negotiations for 2020. Fastmarkets assessed the price of ferro-silicon, lumpy, basis 75% Si (scale pro rata), delivered Europe, at €900-920 ($1,005-1,027) per tonne on November 1, unchanged from a week earlier. Despite the lack of trading, market insiders estimated that the price was at the top end of the range, although some higher offers were reported to be possible soon.
Prices in China held steady despite lower interest among potential buyers, and export market flat on reduced inquiries.
