[Ferro-Alloys.com] Kazakhstan Capital Network reported on September 3, according to data released by energyprom.kz, in January-July 2020, Kazakhstan ferroalloy production reached 1.3 million tons, a slight decrease of 0.1% over the same period last year. Thereinto, the ferrochrome production was 1.1 million tons (down 4.2%), ferromanganese silicon production was 69,900 tons (up 4.7%). 94.9% of ferroalloys were produced in Pavlodar and Aktyubin. The main manufacturers include Aksu Ferroalloy Factory in Pavlodar and Aktypin Ferroalloy Factory in Aktyubin, all of which belong to the Kazakhstan Chromium Company of Eurasia Resources Group. Kazakhstan's ferroalloy production in 2019 was 2.2 million tons, up 6.2% from the same period last year.
In the first half of 2020, Kazakhstan exported 966,300 tons of ferroalloy, an increase of 14.7% over the same period last year, and achieved exports of $835 million, down 15.95 from the same period last year. Thereinto, 122,400 tons were exported to CIS countries, an increase of 1.6 times; exports of $55.6 million fell by 5.6%, with Russia being the main export destination. Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to 843,900 tons, an increase of 6.2%; the value of exports was $779 million, a decrease of 16.5%, and the major export destinations are China, Japan and the United States.
