According to the latest data released by Brazilian customs, Brazil exported 342 million tons of iron ore in 2020, 9.4 million tons less than 2019, down 2.7%.
By product, Brazil exported 326 million tons of ore and lumps in 2020, basically the same as 2019; Export pellets were 15.153 million tons ,9.578 million tons less than 2019, down 38.8%.
By country, Brazil exported 248 million tons of iron ore to China in 2020, 30.8 million tons more than 2019, an increase of 14%. Among them, the export of 242 million tons of powder and block mines to China, 29.51 million tons more than 2019, an increase of 14%; Export pellet 5.58 million tons ,930000 tons more than 2019, an increase of 20%.
In December 2020, Brazil exported 33.165 million tons of iron ore, an increase of 14% from a month earlier and 32% from a year earlier, of which 23.88 million tons were exported to China, an increase of 8% from a month earlier and an increase of 37% from a year earlier.
According to Brazil's National Bureau of Mining (ANM), Brazil produced 397 million tons of iron ore in 2019,50 million tons less than in 2018 before the vale dam break, Vale production fell by more than 80 million tons in 2019. Brazil exported 390 million tons of iron ore in 2018 and 351 million tons in 2019, down nearly 40 million tons.
Since the second half of 2020, Brazilian iron ore exports have recovered significantly, with exports of 196 million tons in the second half of the year, 51 million tons higher than the 145 million tons in the first half of the year, an increase of 4.3% over the second half of 2019.
