[Ferro-Alloys.com] Beijing's coal consumption fell significantly from 2015 to 2020, authorities said on Monday.
Coal consumption in Beijing decreased from 11.65 million tonnes in 2015 to 1.73 million tonnes in 2020, according to Wang Yingjian, an official with the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform. The proportion of coal in the city's energy consumption fell from 13.7 percent to 1.9 percent over the period.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), Beijing authorities phased out coal-fired units capable of generating over 2.7 million kilowatts of energy, and added gas units capable of generating over 7.2 million kilowatts of energy. They also upgraded approximately 30,000 coal-burning boilers to use clean coal.
Turkey's steel sector will follow a policy based on the diversification of its export markets in 2021 with a significant focus on the Far East, South America, and West Africa, said Adnan Aslan, chairman of the Turkish Steel Exporters' Association.
"In the new period, we will increase our export figures by diversifying our export markets, and we will focus primarily on the markets in the Far East, South America, and West Africa," Aslan told Xinhua on Friday.
