Ferro-alloys.com:Indonesian IFSH director Muhammad Ishak said in an interview that (PT.IFIShdeco Tbk) through its subsidiary BSI (PT.Bintang Smelter Indonesia) continues to promote the two nickel-iron pyrotechnic projects of blast furnace and submerged arc furnace.
BSI's blast furnace was completed and put into production in 2018 to produce ferronickel, but because the blast furnace uses a lot of coking coal, accounting for 60% of the raw materials, and all of it is imported, the blast furnace stopped production after the international coking coal price skyrocketed in 2019. Therefore, the company has coordinated with Chinese equipment and process suppliers to carry out equipment and process transformations for the blast furnace, and plans to re-produce the blast furnace at the end of 2021 or early 2022.
The thermal ore furnace smelter project requires an investment of 110 million U.S. dollars and is currently negotiating with Chinese investors. It is expected that the two parties will reach an agreement and complete the delivery in 2021. The RKEF smelter is planned to be completed and put into operation at the end of 2023 or early 2024. The global epidemic has seriously affected the construction of the smelter project Progress and investment in place.
IFSH plans to sell 2 million raw nickel ore in Indonesia in 2021. The company's largest customers are Qingshan and Delong. The benchmark price of nickel raw ore issued by the Indonesian central government will help the company increase its revenue. IFSH is expanding the terminal, and plans to sell 2.5 million wet tons to 3 million wet tons of nickel raw ore after the expansion of the terminal in 2022.
In addition, IFSH sold 781,767 wet tons of raw nickel ore in Indonesia in 2020, a year-on-year decrease of 70%. In 2019, the company sold 2,264,400 wet tons of raw nickel ore in Indonesia.
