According to the statistics released by ISSF on March 15, the global stainless steel production in 2020 decreased by 2.5% to 50.892 million tons from 52.218 million tons in 2019. In addition to China, global stainless steel production decreased by 2.065 million tons, down 9.05%.
1. Changes of stainless steel production in different countries and regions
In 2020, the crude steel output of the Chinese mainland was 30 million 139 thousand tons, up 739 thousand tons(2.51%). The output of stainless steel in Europe was 6.323 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.1%. The output of stainless steel in the United States was 2.144 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 17.3%. Japan's stainless steel hot rolling output fell 18.6% to 217.2% year-on-year.
2. Proportion of major stainless steel producing countries and regions
In 2020, the proportion of China's stainless steel production in the world increased from 56.3% in 2019 to 59.2%. Europe's share fell to 12.4% from 13.0% in 2019, and the United States' share fell to 4.2% from 5.0% in 2019.
