[Ferro-Alloys.com]Effected by the pandemic, OM paused the production of ferro-alloys in Malaysia.
Owing to the COVID-19 continually spread through local workers in Singapore, OM Holdings, Singapore-based, has stopped operating the ferro-alloy smelter plant in Malaysia. There was news that 8 sets of 25000KVA ferro-silicon furnaces and 8 sets of silicon-manganese furnaces were shut down.
The plant has been maintained by OM, at spot, all product activity stopped. Three dormitories were locked down and the production were affected directly.
The company issued that during pandemic, the delivery would be delay. Currently, they are making an action plan to resume production, however there are no sign show when the production will be restarted.
The plant produced 200-210 thousand tons of ferro-silicon per year, and 250-300 thousand tons manganese alloys per year. Last year, the company has produced 167443 tons of ferro-silicon and 227406 tons of manganese alloys.
The company produced 38415 tons ferro-silicon in the first three months, and the total volume of high carbon ferro manganese and silicon-manganese was 57136 tons.
