From a regional perspective, crude steel production in the northeastern region of the United States is estimated at 139,000 short tons; the Great Lakes region’s output is 646,000 short tons; the Midwest region’s production is 193,000 short tons; the southern region’s production is 787,000 short tons; 75,000 short tons.
