Brazil's electricity regulator Aneel will put its proposal for the R32.1bn ($6.1bn) government's energy development fund (CDE) 2023 budget before the public for consultation and a hearing.
The CDE is Brazil's most important financial mechanism to manage subsidies in the power market. Aneel's proposal for the budget accounts for a 39pc increase in costs from transmission tariff discounts for incentivized power projects. This is due to a law ending transmission and distribution subsidies to renewable projects authorized after March 2022 which created a surge of applications to beat the deadline.
