US HRC: Prices flat on holiday

[Fellow]A year ago the spread was $1,058/st as HRC prices were plunging from record-high levels.
 
US hot rolled coil (HRC) spot prices were flat this week as the market emerges from the New Year's holiday.
 
The Argus weekly domestic US HRC Midwest assessment was flat at $683.25/st, while the southern assessment was flat at $670/st.
 
HRC lead times in the Midwest were flat at 3-4 weeks.
 
The Argus HRC import assessment into Houston rose by $10/st to $690/st ddp on limited inputs.
 
The spread between #1 busheling scrap delivered US Midwest mills and HRC was flat at $369/st.
 
A year ago the spread was $1,058/st as HRC prices were plunging from record-high levels.
 
The Argus weekly domestic US cold-rolled coil (CRC) assessment was flat at $905/st, while the hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil assessment was flat at $905/st.
 
Lead times for CRC were flat at 5-6 weeks while HDG lead times were flat at six weeks.
 
The CME HRC Midwest futures market was mostly up in the last week, remaining in contango. February prices rose by $1/st to $790/st, while March prices were flat at $800/st. April prices rose by $17/st to $817/st, while May prices jumped by $20/st to $820/st. June prices jumped by $24/st to $827/st, and July prices rose by $27/st to $829/st.
 
Plate
The Argus weekly domestic US ex-works plate assessment were flat at $1,455/st. Steelmaker Nucor announced on 28 December that it would keep its plate pricing flat at $1,480/st, though a wider range of prices have been reported.
 
The company also said that it rolled its first plate products at its new mill in Brandenburg, Kentucky, on 30 December.
 
Lead times fell to 3-4 weeks from four weeks.
 
The plate delivered assessment was flat at $1,505/st.
