Northwest China's Gansu province has abundant wind and sunlight for power generation. Through building large-scale wind and photovoltaic power bases in desert and wilderness areas, the province promotes its wind and photovoltaic power generation equipment manufacturing industry to high-quality development.
In Gansu's Wuwei city, a 500,000 mu (33,333 hectares) photovoltaic power base is under construction, with a total installed capacity of 15 million kilowatts.
After completion, the base is expected to generate 26.03 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 29.39 million tons per year, save 8.02 million tons of standard coal, control 430,000 mu of desert, to achieve a mutual benefit among economy, ecology, and society. | chinadaily.com.cn
