In the week ending on May 13, 2023, US domestic raw steel production was 1,725,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 76.7 percent. Production was 1,771,000 net tons in the week ending May 13, 2022 while the capability utilization then was 81.1 percent. The current week production represents a 2.6 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending May 13, 2023 is up 0.8  percent from the previous week ending May 6, 2023 when production was 1,712,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 76.1 percent.

 

Adjusted year-to-date production through May 13, 2023 was 31,887,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.9 percent. That is down 4.0 percent from the 33,232,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 80.5 percent.
