In January-June 2024, Ukraine reduced exports of ferroalloy products by 91.2 % year-on-year to 24.21 thousand tonnes. In June, Ukrainian producers exported 17.54 thousand tonnes of ferroalloys, which is the maximum volume since July 2023. The recovery of shipments began in April this year.
Export growth was due to partial resumption of operations at Zaporizhzhya Ferroalloy Plant in May. Pokrovsky GOK, Marganetsky GOK and Pobuzhsky Ferronickel Combine (PFC), as well as Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant are still idle.
The main consumers of the products are Poland, which imported 6.51 thousand tonnes in six months of 2024. In June this year, imports increased by 233% compared to May and amounted to 4.5 thousand tonnes.
Turkey imported 5.663 thousand tonnes in six months and 5.66 thousand tonnes in June,Romania-3.67 thousand tonnes in six months and 0.39 thousand tonnes in June. Reduced demand for products, power supply problems, staff shortages due to mobilisation are significantly affecting the industry at the moment.
