[Ferro-Alloys.com] European producers of locally traded grades 304 and 316 stainless steel sheet have achieved a base price increase of €50 ($67) per tonne, market sources said on Friday September 13.
Order books were positively affected by the summer maintenance period, the sources added. “Demand hasn’t been better, it is just a successful price hike because all the mills are pushing together,” a trader in Northern Europe said. “Some of [the mills] were closed for maintenance in August, which has left order books looking healthier [as orders for August production were moved],” he added.
