According to data released by Korean Iron & Steel Association (KOSA), the country’s exports of carbon steel hot rolled coils (HRC) totaled 331,900 tons in September, rising by 22% from a month ago.
Industry sources said that the rise in HRC exports was supported by the fact that the country’s two major integrated mills, Posco and Hyundai Steel increased their exports after completing maintenance schedules in August.
In the first nine months of this year, Korea’s HRC exports totaled 3.12 million tons, slumping by 23% year on year.
