Huanghua Port, a port located between two steelmaking province Hebei and Shandong, announced a 21% MoM or 428% YoY increase in iron ore import at 0.93 million tonnes in October.
Total import stayed at 7.24 million tonnes in the first ten months and is expected to reach 9 million tonnes at the end of the year. The construction of two exclusive 200,000 tonnage ore berths is underway and is likely to increase ore throughput capacity by 30 million tonnes a year after completion in 2014.
Currently the Port has six 100,000 tonnage docks for iron ore loading work. Huanghua port, with yard capacity of 5 million tonnes has 1.5 million tonnes of iron ore stored at the port as of November 21, accounting for 1.8% of iron ore kept at 43 Chinese ports.
