Chilean industrial output declined the most in at least a decade in March, falling to a six-year low following the devastating Feb. 27 earthquake that shuttered factories and closed ports.

Copper production expanded 5 percent in March from a year earlier, the statistics institute said, while production of molybdenum fell 23 percent. The decline in output of molybdenum, a by-product of copper used to toughen steel, contributed to a 41 percent year-on-year decline in output of common metals.Production of molybdenum and iron and steel bars, declined 93 percent from 12 months earlier, the institute said.
