Silicon prices increased on Wednesday October 15, as offers rose to counteract the weaker euro and a shortage of power in Brazil continued to tighten the market.
European silicon prices rose to €2,230-300 per tonne on Wednesday, from €2,200-290 the week before, continuing a rally in prices that began earlier this year. Silicon prices have been driven higher this year on a power shortage in Brazil, which has tightened the market at a time of strong demand from the aluminium and chemicals sector.
