Ferro-alloys.com:According to news from Arab Trade on February 24, according to a new report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), Jordan’s share of renewable energy has increased from almost zero in 2014 to about 20% in 2020. However, Irena pointed out in its report entitled "Jordan’s Renewable Energy Readiness Assessment" developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan that the private sector will have the opportunity to participate in supporting national energy projects to help the country’s renewable energy generation 31% of total power generation.

The report identified a series of policy measures that will help promote Jordan’s energy transition to renewable energy.

Hala Zawati, an engineer at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan, said: "The recommendations of this report are in line with the newly released Energy Strategy 2020-2030 and its action plan."

The report puts forward policy action areas to improve energy security and promote supply diversification by accelerating the use of renewable energy, and proposes the feasibility of promoting end-use electrification and increasing investment in the energy transition of domestic institutions.

He said: "We are well aware that to achieve these ambitious goals, public and private institutions must establish a strong partnership. We are also eager to cooperate with international friends and partners to make renewable energy the main pillar of Jordan's energy sector. "

Francesco La Camera, Director-General of Irena, said: “Jordan has a huge potential for renewable energy resources. If this potential is realized, it will reduce consumer energy costs, improve national energy security, create jobs and stimulate sustainable growth, thereby promoting Covid- Economic recovery efforts after 19th."

He said: "This report highlights a series of policy and regulatory measures that will enable Jordan to build on the progress it has made so far in the energy transition and to align it with the national decarbonization goal of 2030."
